I wanted to update you on how Stevie is doing in Maine. She just recently starred in an apparel photo shoot for Cuddledown and will be in our Fall catalog! I have sent you a few out takes so you can preview and see how she is doing. (The model has been cropped out of most shots as we do not have the rights to use her picture except in the catalog). As usual there is not a groomer in Maine that knows how to groom a Welsh, but since our creative department wanted a dog that looked like a toy, her look worked quite well.
Stevie is starting her third summer of Agility classes this month. My instructor was very pleased with how Stevie progressed in classes this Winter. She still has a bit of anxiety with the tunnel but she is extremely strong on contacts and jumps. She will do anything for food. 🙂 She and Gus still get along famously. Stevie is definitely not a morning dog, so every morning Gus sticks his head into her crate to try and get her up. It takes him about three minutes to rouse her out of bed. It’s awfully cute to see. Then they both do a round of stretching before they are ready to go out and greet the world.
Stevie has turned out to be extremely attached to my husband. Or maybe I should say my husband has become very attached to Stevie. Next time I will send you a picture of the two of them cuddling on the couch.
Hope all is well with all of you. I can’t tell you how happy we are to have Stevie as part of our family. She is such a happy dog and she brings a smile to everyone’s face that meets her.
Stevie’s been here one week and is so firmly entrenched in our lives we have a hard time remembering what it was like before her. It’s a rainy day today and Gus is sleeping on the sofa and Stevie is snoozing on the floor right below him. They wore themselves out playing this morning. When they chase each other, they sound like a herd of small cattle thundering through the house. They are so cute together and Gus is so in love with Stevie. I tried to enclose pictures but the files were so bit they didn’t go out. Anyway it’s hard to get Stevie to stay still long enough to snap a front view.
This week Stevie learned to sit and next week we will start on sit/stay and downs. She’s really a quick learner and it’s great that she is so motivated by food and toys. I think I might be able to get her trained fast enough to start her in beginning agility this Winter!
